Filtrex are proud to be involved in the Moyderwell project in Deans Lane, Tralee. Filtrex supplied, installed and commissioned the Biomass Boiler system including fuel store equipment.

This project provides district heating of 1,000kW heat for over 40 apartments, a convent and a library with a state of the art biomass boiler system. The boilers are fed by wood chips stored in a bunker adjacent to the boiler room. Hot water is pumped to the surrounding buildings using underground pipework. The heat is exported to houses/buildings and measure by a heat meter. The amount of heat used is billed much like a gas or electricity bill.

In sharing the cost of a renewable district heating scheme between the users a lower cost of energy can be gained while having green credentials. The supply of fuel is local so more money will stay in the local economy compared to oil and gas supply.

The project consisted on 2 X Herz biomass boilers outputting 1,000kW of heat for district heating fuelled by locally sourced wood chips.
