Deebert House Hotel, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick
In August 2006 Ben O’Sullivan of the Deebert House Hotel contacted Filtrex with a view to installing a biomass boiler as the primary heating system in the new hotel. At the first planning meeting the hotel management team indicated that they were willing to invest the extra capital in the biomass boiler provided that it met the following criteria:
• Lower running costs than a conventional boiler
• Lower carbon footprint
• Rapid heat transfer from cold start
• Eligible for the SEI Re-Heat grant
Filtrex were able to meet and exceed all these requirements by using a Herz Firematic 150kW in conjunction with a 2000l fully insulated hot water buffer tank. The Herz Firematic is particularly suitable for small commercial installations with intermittent peak loads such as small hotels.
Project Specifics
Design, installation and commissioning of biomass heating plant capable of generating 150kW of thermal energy fuelled by wood pellets.
The final installation consisted of:
• 1 no. 150kW Herz wood pellet biomass boiler
• 1 no. 2000l hot water buffer
• Wood pellet fuel storage bunker fit-out
• Zoned Heating System
• Twin Wall Stainless Steel Flue
Commissioned : July 2007
“We took great comfort in Filtrex’s technical ability, which was clearly evident from the start of the project. From the project concept right through to commissioning and handover, the service was what you would expect from a professional engineering company”
